October 23, 2018 4:39 am

Four thousand five hundred presiding and assistant presiding officers have undergone a refresher training.

This has been done to ensure all Polling Stations operate with consistency on Election Day and that the Fijian Elections Office’s established processes and procedures are followed.

There will be over 10,000 Election Officials looking after or running 582 pre-poll venues and 854 Election Day polling venues.

Deputy Supervisor of Elections, Karyl Winter reminded the officers that they each will be engaging with as many as 500 voters.

“My message to your fellow Election Officials is to learn and use the manual they been provided. Follow all instructions to the letter. Do not invent/improvise the processes to suit yourself. There will be polling agents and observers that will be trained to check that you follow all the procedures.”

Winter reminded the officers it’s their responsibility as the Fijian Elections Office to ensure everything runs without any hiccups.
