President visits elderly citizens of Rotuma

President  Major General Retired Jioji Konrote made a visit to the senior citizens on the island of Rotuma.

During his second day of the visit on the island, Konrote says visiting the elderly citizens is vital as the government is serious about taking care of the elderly through its social reforms.

Konrote says he was obliged to visit them as he had been away for years because of his busy schedule as the President of Fiji.

Despite the main aim of the tour – advocating on the planting of four million trees in four years, Konrote says it was an opportunity to meet the elderly citizens.

The President accompanied by the First Lady visited several senior citizens on Rotuma one of whom was 79-year-old Susana Makrava.
