President urges Rotumans to change lifestyles

President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote has urged the people of Rotuma to change their lifestyles.

Konrote who is currently on a tour of his island home expressed his concern on the unhealthy lifestyles that are the cause of Non Communicable Diseases amongst Fijians.

He says sadly, the government spends close to $406million annually for NCD related ailments in Fiji.

Konrote says this money could be better spent elsewhere such as building new roads and infrastructure, new schools and hospitals.

The President adds they need to change their habits by eating the right food, exercising daily and going to sleep on time.

Konrote reiterates that his vision is to have a country where people are not plagued with NCDs as a healthy nation is a productive nation.
