President honours exceptional Fijians

The Office of President today honoured a number of people in recognition of their exceptional service to Fiji.

From the highest commendation the Order of Fiji – to the President’s Cross.

Receiving the President’s Cross was Peter Amputch who risked his life just over a month ago to save the lives of students involved in a bus accident. He even got electrocuted and was hospitalized.

“I accept it on behalf of everybody that was involved in the bus accident, esp the boys for their courage and for also them getting injured, all the mothers that were also injured and for Mrs. Rounds who passed away, I also dedicate this to her as well.”

The Officer of the Order of Fiji was awarded to Sir James Ah Koy and Kamlesh Ayra.

The Honours list is a calendar event where the President acknowledges Fijians from all walks of life for their distinguished service.
