President commends government education budget

The Fijian government commitment to education is unprecedented.

This was the statement of the President Major General Retired Jioji Konrote while speaking at Vaka Pasifiki Education Conference at the University of the South Pacific.

While giving his thoughts on the budget, Konrote says the one billion dollar budget allocated by the government was a bold statement of Fiji’s commitment in developing the education sector.

Konrote says the record allocation will create a more knowledgeable society and will in turn result in a resilient, healthy, modern and a progressive nation.

Konrote also advised educators that they have a pivotal role to play in the success of the Pacific people and nations.

The President says it is vital for educators to maintain the growth of education and at the same time ensure a resilient and healthy communities.
