PRB records arrears of more than $90,000

The Public Rental Board has incurred arrears from 593 tenants which are running into thousands of dollars.

Speaking to FBC News, Board chief executive, Patrick Veu says it has recorded arrears of $93,000 over the last five years.

Veu adds of this $85,000 was for last year alone.

He says the measure is put in place to assist where needed.

“For those that we see that they cannot really pay the arrears because of the income we assist them with government subsidy those that fall into the subsidy criteria.”

The PRB in the western division has recorded that 137 tenants have arrears of $20,000.

54 tenants in the northern division were in arrears of $5,000.

In the central division, 402 tenants had $68,000 outstanding arrears.

Veu adds officers are following up on outstanding payments on a daily basis to ensure tenants pay up.
