Police have confirmed that the infant found dead in a bus earlier this week died of suffocation.

Police Spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu confirmed this following a post mortem examination conducted yesterday.

He says police are still searching for the mother as investigation continues.

The infant was found inside a bus which was parked at a garage in Wainibokasi outside Nausori in the weekend.

The baby was discovered by a 56 year old mechanic while cleaning the bus, which had been parked, since its last trip on Saturday night.
