Three major positive developments will arise from the three day pre-COP events in Denarau, Nadi this week.
The first is the signing of agreements that will see over 300,000 Fijians living in the greater Suva area get improved water and sanitation services.
The agreements will also ensure that critical infrastructure is resilient to climate change.
The second is the launching of the Rural Energy Project with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.
The project seeks to establish private public partnerships that will bring solar power to rural communities across Fiji.
The third is the announcement by Fiji of a sovereign Green Bond which has the technical support from the World Bank
This is potentially the first sovereign green bond issued by an emerging economy, first from a small island state and the first in the Pacific.
