Fijians who have applied for the positions of polling day workers with the Fijian Elections Office can expect a text message sometimes this week.

Elections Supervisor Mohammed Saneem says they have finalized the applications and also processes the test results that were set by these applicants.

Saneem said they have been receiving a lot of calls and emails from people who have applied for the positions.

“We request all the applicants who had given their mobile phone numbers to ensure that their mobile phones are turned on and that they are able to receive the sms. So there is going to be a categorized approach and we will be starting with applicants who scored the highest marks and we will trend down towards those who did not score very high marks. This is to assist those who are still intending to make applications.”

Saneem says first contact to these applicants will be via sms where they will be told on what steps to follow.

He says polling day workers will be trained in about two weeks time.
