The political party candidate nominations begin at 8am today.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says nominations of candidates will run for two weeks before it closes on the 15th of this month at 12pm.

Saneem says once they receive a nomination, the person must resign from his or her public office.

On the 16th of this month, candidates’ nomination withdrawals will close at 12pm while the candidates’ nominations objections and appeals will close at 4pm.

Saneem adds their priority now is to get their logistics and human resources staff organized.

He reiterates that all political parties must abide by the law and if any are found to be campaigning during blackout period, they will be taken to task by FICAC.
