Political parties have been requested to gather the list of all their active social media accounts.

Political party officials met with the Electoral Commission yesterday where the Supervisor of Elections explained them the requirements.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem told the officials that they also need to gather all their accounts and communicate with those who may be operating accounts not held by the Political Party’s control.

Saneem says this will enable the Fijian Elections Office to implement the law nearer to Election Day when the 48-hour campaign black-out period is in effect.
Saneem also ran an update on preparations towards the 2018 General Election.

The meeting coincides with the Electoral Commission’s theme to make the Election a platform for all Fijians to express their will with confidence, security and freedom.

All parties except the Freedom Alliance were present at the meeting.
