Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says they are hoping to make a breakthrough in one of the unsolved murder cases.
Qiliho says there a few cases where no arrest has been made yet and it still remains a mystery.
“It requires that very meticulous process of going through, it cannot be rushed and you can even see TV programs that talks about unsolved cases all around the world and how it has taken decades and even in some cases where new technologies have been introduced that we can solve these cases. I am not coming with cases but I can tell you that we are still working on these cases, I get periodic briefings on them and we are making progress.”
Qiliho says one of the cases is forty- two-year old Salesh Chand’s burnt body which was discovered by a team of police officers in a burnt company car at the Fiji Sugar Corporation Lautoka mill two years ago.
In another case, three years ago the owner of Lees Trading Company Holland Seeto was found dead at his factory in Laucala Beach.
Qiliho adds that in another case is a Russian couple who were also allegedly murdered and their body parts were discovered at the Natadola Beach in 2016.
Qiliho says they are still working on these cases.
