Police will work closely with Military to ensure safety of Fijians

The Fiji Police Force will continue to work closely with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces to ensure the safety of all Fijians.

This follows posts on social media claiming there will be a state disorder tomorrow.

These rumors have taken social media by storm in the past few weeks, taking its toll on Fijians who are now worrying about whether or not to send their children to school tomorrow or go to work.

Deputy Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu is assuring the public that there’s nothing to be scared of come tomorrow.

“We have been closely liaising with our military counterpart in regards to that. So there need to be no worries by members of the public as people are going around trying to instill fear. I would like to reassure the members of the public at large that nothing will happen on the 23rd – as being speculated on social media. We are fully aware of things and everything is under control.”

Meanwhile, Human Rights Anti-Discrimination Commission Director Ashwin Raj has made his stance against these posts that went viral on social media – evoking fear amongst Fijians.
