Police warn public of accidents

Police are advising road users and drivers to be more cautious after a spate of road accidents recently.

In the first incident, two victims of a road accident in Nawai in Nadi have been discharged from hospital.

Two tourists were traveling in a rental car from Nadi.

They had allegedly tried to overtake a vehicle and hit an oncoming vehicle and a bus.

The driver is expected to be questioned today.

In a separate incident in Sigatoka, two people died in a minibus collision with a pick-up truck over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the two victims were passengers in the minibus and died at the scene.

The accident occurred at about 11am at Maro junction.

The driver has been discharged from hospital and is expected to be questioned soon.

One person remains in critical condition at the Lautoka Hospital while the other is admitted at the Nadi Hospital and is reported to be stable.

In another incident a two-year-old child remains admitted in critical condition after a serious road accident.

The incident occurred when a car carrying five passengers veered off the Queens Road at Navo, outside Nadi Town.

The driver had been questioned and released as investigations continue.
