With a lot of movement expected throughout the long weekend, the Fiji Police Force is once again requesting members of the public to take all necessary safety precautions.

Police Spokesperson – Ana Naisoro says over the past week a number of families have lost their homes in fires.

Naisoro is advising the members of the public to ensure electrical appliances and other fire hazards are thoroughly checked and switched off before they leave their homes.

She says another unfortunate tragedy that occurs during long weekends is that of drowning cases.

Parents and guardians are reminded to keep a close eye on their children at all times.
