A search is underway for three prisoners who escaped from the Nadi Police Station custody this morning.

The three are Nacanieli Bakata, Ilaitia Vuivuda and Josaia Leone and were remanded in custody for aggravated robberies.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says an Internal Affairs investigation is also being conducted as to how the three escaped from lawful custody.

An officer has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
