Police search continues

The search for a 54 year old farmer of Navutua, Nacua Yasawa continues after he went missing during a fishing trip.

The 54 year old had borrowed a punt from a 55 year old farmer of the same settlement yesterday at 9am.

The alarm was raised by the owner of the punt after he noticed it floating without the 54 year old at around one thirty.

Villagers living along this coastal area have been informed as well as nearby resorts.

Meanwhile police are again appealing to the public to please solve disputes in an amicable manner and avoid taking the law into your own hands.

This follows the assault of a 49 year old woman by her nephew in Kasavu over an argument over fresh water mussels.

The victim is admitted at the CWM Hospital due to the seriousness of her injuries.

She had asked to take some fresh water mussels on credit however was refused.

After repeatedly requesting, her nephew allegedly threw an electric kettle and a stone which both missed.

As the woman left the house, the suspect then allegedly threw a roti hot plate which hit her head.

She was taken to the Nausori Health Centre then later transferred to the CWM Hospital.

Police are now searching for the suspect.
