Police search continues for alleged rapist

A 40 member police team continues to the hunt for the perpetrator involved in the beating and rape of a 9 year old girl in Nakasi, Suva last week.

Chief of Investigations and Intelligence ACP Henry Brown told FBC News that the investigations are ongoing and that the team is working hard.

The incident occurred last week Tuesday when the class 4 student was walking home after school.

She was found by her mother meters from her home and was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit a the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

The 9 year old has since stabilized.

Police have set up a 24-hour operations center at the Nakasi Police Station and are appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.

ACP Brown has cautioned the public not to run to the media to get publicity but speak to their officers to help them with the investigations instead.
