A joint effort by the Police, National Fire Authority and Navy has retrieved the car and the body of the driver that was submerged at the Rewa River over the last five days.

It’s believed the body is of 17-year-old Tasleem Ali of Baulevu.

It’s understood he was driving the car last Wednesday when he tried to take past another vehicle but lost control, veered off the road and plunged into the swollen Rewa River.

Attempts to retrieve the body and the car since the incident occurred was unsuccessful due to unfavorable weather conditions and strong currents.
