Police reiterates curfew reports false

November 13, 2018 11:54 pm

The rumors of a curfew in effect tonight is not true says the Fiji Police Force.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho is urging the public not to believe the rumors that are being circulated that authorities will be enforcing a curfew and movements will be restricted tonight.

“If there is any such thing, that will come from me or from the relevant government authority but there are people out there creating these stories and we are going out to pick up a few to interview them in regards to what they are circulating out there.”

The Police Chief had revealed to FBC News yesterday that he had received calls and reports from the public inquiring about curfews.

He adds they’re keeping a close eye on these rumor mongers and while some have been questioned, others have been warned to refrain from doing this.

More than 2000 officers have been deployed as of this morning for Election operations while others are continuing with normal routine operations.
