Police officers have been urged to reflect on the meaning of the Festival of Lights by ensuring good triumphs over evil during the execution of their duties.
This was the message delivered by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho during Diwali Celebrations at the Fiji Police Headquarters this morning.
The Commissioner reminded those present that policing requires good, honest and trusted police officers.
Brigadier General Qiliho reminded the police officers that they need to love their work as servants of the people, and respect those they serve.
He says it is unfortunate that the Force has had reports against some of its own who have abused their authority and powers and taken the law into their own hands.
Brigadier General Qiliho says while it is a busy period for the institution going into the Election period, the Diwali celebrations should also be used as a time of personal reflection.
