Police officers liaise with villages in Lau

February 13, 2018 12:14 am

Police Officers based at the Lakeba Police Station are continuously liaising with villages in the Lau group as reports of strong winds and rough seas are coming.

Chief Operations Officer, ACP Maretino Qiolevu, says communication between officers and turaga-ni-koros of the islands in the Lau group is being conducted on a regular basis.

ACP Qiolevu says the public must refrain from unnecessary maritime travel in light of the strong wind warning particularly for those living in areas where the warnings have been issued.

With schools closed in Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu, parents and guardians have been warned to keep a close eye on their children at all times.

Police are also urging the public to listen to the advisories closely and ensure all necessary safety measures are taken.
