Police officers who have been found breaking the law is an embarrassment to the force.

This was highlighted by Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho revealing they recently had two motor vehicle accidents where one of the vehicles had been written off.

“I stress it again it’s become disgustingly shameful and for those that utilize government resources in the police recklessly and that has been unauthorized, and they have no place in the police force.”

Qiliho says he has previously removed police officers for breaking the law and will continue to do so.

“The people of Fiji expects us to deliver that service especially with those mobility assets and when one of them is taken off the road, our ability to get that service to a sizable part of the community which will be a few thousand people is seriously derailed straight away."

Qiliho says he will not only look at those who drive unauthorized vehicles but also the command elements that should have overseen the utilization of those vehicles.
