Police officer survives two road accidents in one day

A police officer is recovering at the CWM Hospital in Suva after sustaining injuries in two separate incidents.

In the first incident the officer was allegedly hit by a vehicle at a snap checkpoint along the Wainibokasi Road in Nausori this morning.

He was taken to the Nausori Health Center where he was admitted under observation.

The driver in his 40’s from Nepani, Nasinu who allegedly caused the incident is being questioned.

Police say the police officer was unfortunately involved in another accident when he was being transferred to the CWM Hospital.

The Ambulance driver transporting the officer and his sister allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and tumble five times at Sawani along Princess Road.

The officer and his sister sustained injuries during the second incident and were taken to the CWM Hospital by the driver of a passing vehicle.

Both the officer and his sister are receiving treatment.
