Police have neither confirmed nor denied that robbery suspect Vilikesa Soko was allegedly beaten up by police officers when he was apprehended.

In a media conference this afternoon, Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald was asked, if Soko was beaten up.

In response, Groenewald said, his senior officers are in the Western division investigating the case.

He says an initial report he received stated that Soko was bleeding internally and was to get an operation yesterday.

Groenewald says Soko had also refused medical treatment before he died.
