Fijian Police are investigating a You-tube video that shows fishermen being shot at sea.

The person who uploaded the video claims the 10 minute video shows Fijians in the water being shot at by Asian fisherman.

Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri says the police are aware of the video and have launched an investigation.

It’s yet to be verified but an online posting of the video says the victims were Fijian.

The video appears to be filmed from the deck of a fishing boat travelling with three others.

New Zealand based ONE News reports they had specialists poring over the video and translating orders apparently given by foreign fishing crews.

The video shows two men clinging to wreckage, desperately trying to avoid a spray of gunfire. Both ended up dead in the water.

Five minutes earlier on the video posted on YouTube, there are three fishing boats, one confirmed as a Taiwanese long liner. They appear to be chasing another boat and heavy fire is clearly heard.

The YouTube posting claims the two fishermen are Fijian.

The footage also shows a total of four bodies in the water.
