A 28-year-old man is the latest victim on our roads.

Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra confirms the incident happened this morning at Maui Bay near Sigatoka.

Mishra says the vehicle carrying the victim was travelling towards Suva when it went off the road and hit a post.

There were two people in the vehicle and police have yet to confirm the condition of the second.

It is suspected the driver was drunk and speeding.

The road death toll for this year stands at 31, one less than the same period last year.
