Police investigate drowning

Police in Nadi are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning of a three year old girl last night.

Her body was found floating in a river in Namaka by a villager.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says, the father of the girl discovered his daughter was missing from their home at around 6:45pm and alerted the villagers who helped in the search.

Her body was found some three hours later and is now at the Nadi hospital awaiting post mortem.

The Police are again urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant over their children.

The drowning toll now stands at 57 compared to 30 for the same period last year.
