An investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death of a one-year-old girl at her home in Veitari, Lautoka.

The alleged incident occurred last Thursday.

Police say the victim was left in the care of a relative.

It’s believed the relative and the victim were attending a church service near their home when she went missing.

Police say they found the child motionless with her head in a bucket filled with water.

She was rushed to the Lautoka Hospital however, was pronounced dead on arrival.
