Police are continuing its investigation into a theft from one of their own buildings.
A tasked police team are enquiring into missing items from its very own Criminal Investigations Department headquarters in Toorak.
Police Director Operations SSP Rusiate Tudravu says the break in at the CID headquarters took place on Tuesday; however news of the crime officially came to light yesterday.
Tudravu says the break in is an embarrassment to the force, but says they want to be transparent about it.
“I would like to state that we also have internal security measures in place in regards to some of the sensitive issues and items that are in our custody which we would like not to comment further than that, and I can assure the media that we will try our best, the team is working very hard on it and we will advise at a later stage in regards to the incident at the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters.”
Police have yet to make any arrests.
