An operational readiness check was conducted today for police officers in the Northern Division who will be providing security on polling day.
Conducting the check at the Labasa Police Station ground, Chief of Operations ACP Maritino Qiolevu says from what he has seen so far, they are ready for November 14th.
Qiolevu says the purpose of the check is to find out if they have the right number of personnel’s on the ground, the uniformity that is required and if officers are ready for the election.
He emphasized to the officers the importance of their role in the electoral process, to ensure a safe and secure environment for the conduct of the election.
Qiolevu says security is not only vital for the electoral process adding that any mishap or security breaches will be blamed entirely on the force.
