Police Commissioner praises villagers

Fourteen villagers of Dravuwalu in Kadavu were presented with recognition certificates by the Acting Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho today, for the apprehension of escapee Sakiusa Basa Viaviaturaga.

Police spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri who is currently in Kadavu, says the village headman and the young men were acknowledged by Brigadier General Qiliho for their assistance and cooperation which led to the successful operation.

Viaviaturaga was in possession of more than 600 plants believed to be marijuana found in Dravuwalu.

Sokomuri says this is an example of police community partnership that we continue to advocate and it is encouraging to note that people are being proactive and curbing illegal activities from within their communities.

Viaviaturaga had escaped from the Nasinu Magistrates Court on August, 15 of this year.
