Police Commissioner praises Dravuwalu villagers

Fourteen villagers of Dravuwalu in Kadavu were presented Certificates of Recognition yesterday by the Acting Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, for the apprehension of escapee Sakiusa Basa Viaviaturaga.

Police spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri who is currently in Kadavu says the village headman, and the young men were acknowledged by Brigadier General Qiliho for their assistance and cooperation which led to the successful operation.

Sokomuri says this is an example of police community partnership that we continue to advocate adding it is encouraging to note that people are being proactive and curbing illegal activities from within their communities.

Viaviaturaga was apprehended in Dravuwalu and has in his possession more than 600 plants believed to be marijuana in Dravuwalu.

He had escaped from the Nasinu Magistrates Court on August, 15 of this year.
