Police arrest ANZ bank robbery suspect

Police have arrested Peni Veisagai Matairavula aka ‘Pakai’ who was wanted for his alleged involvement in the robbery of ANZ Bank at the Nausori Airport in September.

Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations Henry Brown says Matairavula was arrested last Wednesday in Rakiraki.

He has been charged for his alleged involvement in a robbery in Visama Nausori sometime in July 2015 and the ANZ Bank robbery at the Nausori Airport.

Matairavula was charged with aggravated robbery and has been remanded.

ACP Brown has acknowledged the cooperation showed by members of the community as information received led to his arrest.

Meanwhile, Police continues to plead for information regarding the other two suspects Ilaitia Vuivuda, aka Vus and Mesake Sinu Leleiwasa, aka Sinu.

The two are considered to be high risk criminals.
