The Police Force is anticipating more seizures of hard drugs after the opening of the new dog detector unit in Nasese today.
Director International Relations SSP Ulaiasi Ravula says the four dogs in Suva will be used at the Suva Port and at the Nausori International airport.
Ravula says that it’s amazing to see the number of seizures taking place and the dollar figures attached to the seizures.
The dogs have been trained to detect narcotics, cash and firearms, provide protection at the border and enhance security within the community.
Meanwhile, there were thirteen cases of hard drugs worth more than $6 million in the first six months of the operation of the detector dog unit in Nadi.
