Police and Human Rights Commission to meet

The Commissioner of Police Major General Ben Groenewald wants to view a report from the findings of the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission following it’s surprise visit to the Lautoka Police Station last week.

The Commission found several basic human rights breaches at the station.

Groenewald met with the Commission chairperson Justice Mohammed Ajmeer yesterday and they have decided to hold another meeting at the end of this month to discuss the way forward.

Groenewald also met with the Commissioner of Corrections, Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu yesterday to discuss pertinent issues highlighted by during the Commission’s visits.

Both organisations will work on improving service delivery.
