Police aim to make Cokes incident free

Police will closely monitor students and spectators entering the National Stadium and those thinking of smuggling drugs or alcohol in should think twice.

Director Operations, SSP Rusiate Tudravu say they will have the manpower on the ground to ensure the games remains incident free.

“We will be looking into two areas one being alcohol and the other being drugs. We will monitor those who would want to take advantage coming to the Stadium drunk or trying to smuggle in drugs.”

Tudravu adds they will also be working closely with the Land Transport Authority to monitor loud music in buses.

“This is one of the areas of concern for us and we will be working with the LTA and the bus companies. Our traffic and highway patrol officers will be on the roads to maintain safety measures are taken. Anything apart from the spirit of the games will be dealt with accordingly with the law.”

Over 2,000 athletes will be competing in the two-day event while more than 5,000 spectators will be in support.
