PNG seeks Fiji's experience in agriculture and hospitality sectors

Papua New Guinea has expressed a vested interest in expanding its business opportunities in Fiji.

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill says PNG is working on developing its agriculture, tourism and hospitality sectors which are Fiji’s strength areas.

PM O’Neill adds with Fiji having comprehensive experience in these areas, PNG hopes to piggy back off this to learn and better their industries.

The Prime Minister also welcomed Fiji’s business interests into PNG.

“Government’s don’t know everything and sometimes we need this core of the business sector – that is why your experience and ability to expand on the business opportunities that are available. We can also be able to assist you in providing a much better legislative environment and regulations that are conducive to growing the business sector for many years to come.”

O’Neill says an increase in the levels of two way trade can assist both the country’s economies to grow in the region.

He made these comments while speaking at the Fiji-PNG Business Council forum yesterday in Suva.

The Papua New Guinea Prime Minister departed Fiji yesterday for Brisbane before returning to PNG.
