PM sugar consultation continues

Government has assured farmers that the state will work quickly to resolve issues pertaining to the Sugar Industry.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum revealed this to more than hundred farmers in Nadi yesterday as the sugar consultation continues.

Bainimarama says the government will do all it can to turn around the Sugar Industry.

“I want to tell you that most of the province that you’ve talked about, we have talked about in the last couple of days and I have said that my permanent secretaries now with the new chairman try and sort out the issues that we had problems with in the last six months.”

Bainimarama has assured farmers that the Sugar Industry is here to stay and they are also looking at various ways in which FSC can improve to deal with the people in the industry.
