PM speaks at FIPIC summit

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has welcomed India’s stated intention to play a greater role in the Pacific region.

Speaking at the Forum for India-Pacific Island Cooperation (FIPIC) Bainimarama said Fiji values the assistance provided by India towards development over the years.

He reiterated that Fiji will strongly support India’s bid to become a Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council.

Bainimarama says Fiji and its Pacific neighbor’s intent to lead the charge for drastic cuts in carbon emissions at the World Climate Summit at the end of November.

He says they have precisely 14 weeks and urged India to stand with the Pacific Island nations.

He stressed Fiji’s desire to take a leading role in multilateral forums to advance the interests of the Pacific Nations.
