With just a day before Fiji’s opening Rugby World Cup match against Australia, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has told the team that the entire nation is behind them.

Bainimarama who will be watching the game in Japan tomorrow is also the president of the FRU.

He says its Fiji’s time to shine after years of near misses and hold an edge over other teams which should serve as an added motivation to take down the giants of world rugby.

“You have something no other team has, an entire nation united behind your success. The passion for the Fijian people for this game is unrivalled by any other country in the world of rugby.”

Bainimarama says the team will not lack lung power support from all quarters.

“When you put on these jersey’s, lace your boots and take the field, the eyes of the entire nation will be upon you. School kids, nurses, teachers, CEOs, civil servants, mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, every Fijian everywhere in Fiji is with you.”

Too often in recent time Tier 2 teams such as Fiji have been left in the doldrums and while Pacific teams continue to cry to equal opportunities on the world stage, Bainimarama says the time is right to hammer the message home.

This is your moment. Your moment to seize your place in history and make a statement on rugby’s grandest stage.”

Fiji takes on the Wallabies at 4.45pm tomorrow.
