PM satisfied with development path

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainiamarama is convinced that by taking a responsible development path, Fiji can improve the living standards and still meet international obligations.

Bainimarama made the statement while speaking at the opening of the Wainisavulevu Weir Raising Project in Naitasiri yesterday.

Bainimarama says the government is doing all it can to ensure that sustainable development of our resource on land and sea is the number one national priority.

“We are putting the preservation of our national environment above all else and this principle underpins our Green Growth Framework that we unveiled this year and this will be incorporated into the five and twenty year national development plans which are now in process of formulating.”

Bainimarama has revealed that the government has redoubled it’s efforts to bring power to Taveuni and should be complete the first phase by the first quarter of next year.

He says they are also looking to cover the corridor between Rakiraki and Korovou by August of next year.
