April 27, 2015 12:49 am

The Prime Minister has given a stern reminder to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces not to neglect its officers serving overseas.

Voreqe Bainimarama today told RFMF leaders to monitor the welfare of those serving in the Middle East and their individual families.

He says complaints and queries continue to be received from families concerning their welfare as well as compensation for those that had earlier served in the Middle East and have passed on.

Landforce Commander Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho says the RFMF will now pursue compensations that haven’t been processed.

’’He’s always very concerned and gets very upset when welfare of troops and their families are neglected so that message this morning is one we’ve always heard and acted on when we’re reminded by him during his time as Commander and even now as a retired general he continues to remind us of that important duty to our soldiers and their families’’.

RFMF leaders surprised the Prime Minister at his Muanikau home in Suva this morning with a cake to celebrate his 61st birthday.
