Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has urged community leaders, government ministers, parents and village heads to talk to people about curbing rape.
Bainimarama added that if we want to move towards a modern state then we should move away from such practices.
“As a parent and grandparent I feel for this little girl and we must do something about this. Let’s continue to talk about getting rid of these cases altogether.”
Bainimarama added that he was saddened to hear from a reliable source that in Fiji there is at least one rape case a day.
He made the comments in Navua this morning where he was chief guest at the disbursement of Micro and Small Business grants.
