It’s not the teachers’ job to make children understand their faith better but their work is to help educate students for a brighter future.
Breaking his silence on the ongoing saga between the Catholic Church and the Education Ministry, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in Navala village, Ba yesterday during a talanoa session says the issue should not be about faith but about the proper education for our children.
The Prime Minister also clarified that the posting of non-religious head teachers and principals to faith-based schools will not affect religious teachings.
Bainimarama says he’s not worried about religious teachings in school however, other subjects should be prioritized.
The Prime Minister also stated that some of these changes were part of the 2009 reforms which were for the betterment of Fijian children academically.
Parents have also been reminded to place more emphasis on their children’s education.
