PM opens technical college in Labasa

April 7, 2015 6:54 pm

Fijians living in Vanua Levu will no longer have to come to Suva to get access to Level Two Certificates in the various trades.

This comes after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama officially opened the Fiji Technical College, Arya Samaj Campus in Labasa yesterday.

Bainimarama says this is a good opportunity for young people in the north to achieve a viable and sustainable living.

_“Through these doors in Labasa will come many of the trades people of the future. You may be training to be fitters or machinists. You may be training to be block layers or plasterers, mechanics, panel-beaters, painters, welders, electrical trade people, hospitality or office workers. But whatever course you do, you will all be vital cogs in the national wheel moving Fiji forward – vital members of Team Fiji – and I wish you all the very best.”

Bainimarama confirms that anybody wanting to do a short course will have their fees paid by the government as provided in the 2015 budget.

The Fiji Technical College will provide short courses for block layers or plasterers, mechanics, panel-beaters, painters, welders, electrical trades people, hospitality or office workers.
