PM meets Fijians in Canada for Fiji Day celebrations

Celebrations are underway with the arrival of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama as guest of honour at the Fiji Day celebrations hosted by Fijians living in Canada.

Bainimarama met with the Fijians who although have made Canada their home continue to support and maintain ties with Fiji.

The Prime Minister is on an unofficial visit however he met with members of Canada’s legislative assembly, business officials and potential investors to Fiji.

Speaking at a dinner reception hosted by Peter Raju-the President and CEO of one of Canada’s biggest stakeholders in the duty free industry, Bainimarama invited Fijians residing in British Columbia to realize Fiji’s potential as a unified and prosperous country.

Bainimarama reminded the thousands of Fijians present that they deserve the opportunities Fiji now offers, and Fiji needs their talent, experience, and investment.

The Prime Minister also visited the dock to inspect a vessel that is owned by George Goundar who owns the Lomaiviti Princess. The shipping company is expected to add the new vessel to its service fleet in Fiji soon.

The Fiji Day celebrations continue in Canada today.
