April 7, 2015 1:28 am

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has today launched the Free Milk Initiative at the Dama District School in Bua – Vanua Levu.

Bainimarama says this is a landmark initiative to improve the health of Fijian children and give them the best possible start in life.

The children in Dama have joined more than 20,000 Year One children across Fiji who are benefiting from this program – a 250 millilitre package of free milk plus a serve of Weet-bix every day of the school week.

Bainimarama warned everyone to ensure that the program is not abused and goes to the children it is meant for.

The Prime Minister earlier launched the national Free Milk Program for Year One students in Nakelo in Viti Levu two weeks ago.
