PM hosts Japan-Pacific Island economic relations seminar

Japan is seen as a positive force in the Pacific, as a partner in development and a source of expertise and practical solutions, says Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama while delivering his remarks at the Seminar on Japan/ Pacific Island Economic Relations in Tokyo today.

The Seminar, attended by leaders from Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and more than 20 Japanese Companies was aimed at exchanging views on investment and trade between the two countries.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the relaunching of direct flights to Japan commencing in July, adding it would boost the flow of economic exchanges between Fiji and Japan and open new possibilities.

Bainimarama told the seminar that he was very hopeful about the renewed and invigorated commercial relationship with Japan.

This relationship is driven by the recognition that sound and trade investment opportunities can be found everywhere he added.

Also in attendance at the Seminar was the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Siddiq Koya and Permanent Secretary Shaheen Ali.
