PM holds series of meetings in Bonn

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama held a brief meeting in Bonn, Germany with Patrica Espinosa Cantellano, the Executive Secretary of the UN Climate Change Secretariat.

Bainimarama updated her on Fiji’s efforts to build support for its presidential agenda at the United Nations negotiations on climate change (COP23).

At the meeting, Bainimarama and the Executive Secretary reassured their commitment to work closely together to ensure a successful Fijian Presidency of COP23.

Bainimarama also met with Morocco’s Chief Climate Negotiator, Ambassador Aziz Mekouar, and representatives of the nine constituencies of observers to the UNFCCC.

At both meetings, he assured his commitment to listening and learning, before Fiji takes the leadership role at the negotiations in November.

The Prime Minister will participate at the Bonn Climate Change Conference and attend a Negotiation Management Workshop organized by the German Government.

He will then travel to Berlin, Germany to attend the Petersburg Climate Dialogue.
